About Paula

My love of the game and all the wonderful coaches I had growing up led me to teaching. I went to college to teach. I prefer to teach my love and passion in the free lance environment instead of a restricted learning establishment.

I have over 20 years experience coaching soccer. I played at the Division 1 Collegiate level and I have my USSF national B License. I also have a bachelors degree in Physical Education which enables me to coach to many different types of individual learners. Players are not the same and learn differently. What works for one player might not work for another. I call it my bag of tricks. You learn new ways to teach a skill through knowing your student and how he or she learns best. No one style is best for everyone. Studentas are all unique.

I first have them go through some basic skills as dribbling, passing and receiving, and shooting. I evaluate and ask the parents what their goals are for their soccer player and also what the soccer players goals are for the next few weeks.

We then set a plan and I give them skills instruction and also work they can do at home on their own time to improve themselves.

Each session we review the previous session skills and see how well they have progressed and then add more skills as they have mastered the old ones.

once they have mastered the skill stationary, we move on to moving with the skill, them we reduce the time or speed or reduce the space so the player has to do the skill under pressure.

I have worked with all kinds and all ages from 6year olds to 35 year olds and boys and girls and rec beginners level to collegiate athletes and those try to play professionally.

I have coached at Virginia Tech D1, many HS levels, Mountain View Junior College Men and Womens program, Middle school programs, ODP programs in Texas, Virginia, and California. My teams have won top Gothia Cup and Tivoli cup overseas tournaments. I ahve also coached the USSF National Program with State and Regional level( one step below the National teams)

I have worked with all types of players.

I would read the backgrounds and experience teaching and would hire coaches with degrees  and a background in top level soccer and then call and talk to them and ask questions and then try out a couple of teachers and see which one works for you.

When a parent sends me a video of their child in a game doing a move they learned from me and executing it properly in a game and being successful.

Also the joy of a little boy who was able to do his first pull back move and or dribble the ball close to him. Love to see him jump and raise his hands in triumph. It is very rewarding to see their happiness in making and learning a new skill.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students and or parents should write down why they are doing this and what their goals are for getting skills.

Pricing system depends on how many times a week and if individual (private) or a small group. Also level of the player I take into consideration. Basic beginners have a lower price then more experienced top level players.

My privates range from $20-$50 an hour and small groups from $15-$25 an hour.

I also have to add on $10 if I have to travel to them for gas and tolls.
