About Jose

Spanish is my native language, and furthermore the Spanish that I know has a very neutral accent that can be understood in any Spanish speaking country. I also have been tutorin mathematics for more than 3 years while at college, so I know how a tutee learns. This time I just want to add Spanish to the subjects I teach.

I started back in college, and realized that as I taught more, I learned more. And that is an awesome feeling.

I have been tutoring throughout my college life, so I have been able to create a parallel between the way my professors taugh me, and how me as a student would learn better. Thus, I was able to recognize that with different personalities there are different ways of learning. This have helped me recognize efficient methods of learning, for different students personalities.

About the lesson

There's a lot of types of students that learn differently. I usually, if there is time to get to know a little about each other, try to recognize what kind of student I have, and adapt to his/her preferred method, or more comfortable way of learning.

All kinds, starting with panicked, frustrated with the professor, out of time students who need to learn for an upcoming test. Also, each student has its own way of learning. There are some that are more visual, which means they like examples, to get in the action. There are students that rather listen. There are students that are fast paced, others are more patient. After you teach, and learn with peer students, you recognize the different patterns, and how everyone has its own personal method of learning.

Learning is always a process that takes several steps. Be patient, recognize the steps, and take them one by one. Before you know you'll get to the goal.

Teaching is always a wonderful experience, because you are passing the knowledge that somebody else gave to you, and when a student finally understand a subject, after being a while trying, it is extremely satisfying. When you get to do that, you create great friendships and great memories. There are a lot of fond memories at the tutoring center in college. I remember very much when I pass by previous tutees and they grabbed me and shake my hand to thank me because they pass their class. That's awesome.
