About Michelle
I began teaching my freshman year of high school, when a friend's sibling was struggling with her Pre-Algebra course and asked me if I would be open to tutoring her. I agreed, and thought I would just tutor this student, but I soon understood my love for teaching and felt inspired to tutor others as well.
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of San Diego, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors Program. I was a Spanish tutor at the Languages Center and was also nominated to be an English tutor at the Writing Center. In high school, I tutored several students in subjects such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Spanish, and AP English. I continued my tutoring throughout college.

When working with a new student, I like to begin with a brief background about ourselves in order to establish a good relationship. I truly love connecting with my students and have found their motivation to prepare for our sessions to increase when there is a working relationship. I then ask their concerns for the course and their weak spots, so we can make sure to work on those throughout the sessions.
I have worked with middle school, high school, and college students! However, I am open to students of all ages :)
I advise students to work with someone they feel comfortable with in order to ask all their questions and get the most out of the tutoring session!
Recently, I have been working as a medical assistant for an ophthalmologist, which I am extremely fond of and truly enjoy. I have gained experience not only in the clinical setting for medical school, but also in connecting with individuals during stressful times and helping them to better their lives.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think through where their strengths and weaknesses are for the course, as well as their study habits.
