About Dana
With almost 20 years of experience in Pre-K-through-12 education, I help students and their families understand themselves, as well as the material they're learning so that we can meet their needs more authentically.
I have a Master of Edcuation and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education. I am also certified as a children's yoga teacher and integrate mindfulness practices into my work.
Working with parents and children as a team is what energizes me, and keeps me coming back to teaching.
From a very young age I knew I wanted to be a teacher. When I was a teen I discovered the wide-ranging field of special education, and since then it has been my passion and joy to help find creative solutions to meet the unique needs of my students.

Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Maryland
National Board Certification in Special Needs Education
Over 20 years of continuing education credits in special education, early childhood education, parent education, and mindfulness education.

Parents share what they know abou their child, and the child's educational history. Then I draw upon my knowledge and experience to make a plan from there. A consistent line of communication with the parents is crucial, as is listening to each child and getting to know them authentically.
From ages three to twenty-one I have worked with students who have a wide range of needs and talents.
Find someone you enjoy talking with, and who respects you. Chances are that person will be able to help.
During the year of COVID I have really enjoyed teaching yoga classes and tutoring students online. I also began working with a non-profit that focuses on early literacy and ensuring that kids see themselves represented in books.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Is this person a good listener?
Is this person willing to learn from me, too?
Does this person see my strenghts, as well as my needs?
