About Veronica
Hello there! I have been a special education teacher for 15 years and enjoy working on functional curriculum such as life skills, social emotional skills and community skills. I have a unique gift to get to the student's level , and teach in micro steps until a goal is reached. I learned this through my Masters program ( I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction).
I enjoy working with students , getting to know them and watching their excitement when they accomplish goals. I really like to encourage and root for them when the learning task is difficult in order to boost their self esteem.
I have been a special education teacher for 15 years this August. I have taught both high school and adult transition. I also have a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction and have a cleared CA credential.

Getting to know the student and establishing a quick rapport with him/her is important when working with a new student. One way we could do this is by participating in a short "get to know me/you" activity. Another way could be with me telling the student about myself and asking questions about them.

We are so lucky to have her as my son’s high school special education teacher. In the beginning she was so sweet I wondered how it was going to work out, but I was so wrong to even wonder. She truly connects with each student and is able to identify when they are stressed, overwhelmed, engaged, happy, tired, etc. It is fascinating to watch someone connect and react to several different students in the exact way that the student will best respond to. No one can learn unless they feel safe and comfortable, and I believe the relationship between the student and teacher is the most important factor in the student’s growth and progress. I hope this helps many of you make your decision, and good luck!
