About Curtis
I can provide fundamental building block for understanding the game of tennis.
- Back to basics: What's your personal style?, How should you hit your backhand?, Where should you stand?
- Introduction to ball-striking, handeye coordination, court stance, and more.
- Developmental skills such as serving, slicing, volleys, and more.
- In-depth analysis, all the way from understanding the rules and regulations of the game to developing personal strategies for match play and self-improvement.
- Tennis can be a frustrating sport, so most importantly, learning how to have improve while still having fun!
The most important thing to me when it comes to teaching is connecting with another person. Everyone is different and therefore, everyone does not learn the same way. When I figure out how to communicate something to someone, and they are then able to communicate it to someone else, I know I have done my job.
I've been playing tennis for around eight years now, dating back to when I played in high school. I've always had a knack for breaking down the mechanics of the game and the technical aspects of each shot and movement. As an avid follower of the game for over ten years I have a deep understanding of the game's history and the patience it takes to pick up a racket.

With a new student it is important to establish a baseline. Is this person completely new, or do they have some experience? It's important to understand a little bit about someone's background so you can tailor the experience to them. More important than that is to ask the student what they want out of each lesson, what they expect to learn in time, and when. That way both the teacher and the student have a goal and it is less likely that someone will be dissatisfied.
