About Robert

GOLS stands for Goal Oriented Learning System and was designed by me to help my students and me stay on track with their learning and being able to show them their progress

As a former#1 player in Florida with over 20 national singles and doubles titles won as well as competed and won championships in Europe, South America, and Central America, I have a vast range of experience in playing as well as teaching.

I have started and successfully operated 3 junior tennis academies

I have been the Director of Tennis at 5 prestigious clubs throughout the Southeast

I have trained and coached 4 yr old beginners to 90 year old ladies who can't stop playing

I have been the owner / operator of one of the most successful multi-purpose clubs in Atlanta

I have created 3 tournaments over the years which have become mainstays in the tennis world, one of them being the Wimbledon Press tournament (23 yrs)

I have owned and operated two tennis businesses, one here in Florida and one in Atlanta

When it comes to tennis, I have a rich and storied tennis history

I thoroughly enjoy helping someone learn the game. Showing them how simple the game can be and getting them to feel the thrill of learning skills they weren't good at before.

I enjoy seeing the smiles of success that my students have when they know they've done it.

i started in high school during the summer as a summer camp counselor, then went on to teach privately during my college career in the summers when I wasn't competing in tournaments.

Besides being a 30+ years USPTA Elite pro, I've been a USTA High Performance coach.

About the lesson

I always ask these questions:

What is your level of experience?

What do you want to achieve within session?

What are your long term goals?

Based on their responses, I begin to let them get a "feel" for the ball, the court, the surroundings, and the coach we just hit back and forth if they are somewhat experienced if they are new to the sport, I will always test their eye/hand coordination. Based on that outcome, we will begin to hit back and forth at a close proximity to one another, so the person feels comfortable just striking the ball and keeping it in play

I've taught 3 year olds to 90 year olds. I have taught adults and children, pro players, aspiring juniors, recreational players.

Watch them give a lesson so you can see if you would feel comfortable on court with that pro

Helping a fellow coach learn a skill and how to impart the skill to their students

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be clear about what they want to gain from this experience with a pro:

knowledge

fun experience

physical workout
