About Oliver
Welcome violinists! I am college student who's passionate about making music accessible! I am fairly new to teaching, though I am determined to do my best at inspiring and helping other violinists along their musical journey. I have 12 years of classical violin experience and am currently finishing my BM in Violin Performance at OSU. I have had the pleasure of privately studying with Helen Sina, Jessica Lambert, and Linda Wang. They all taught me the balance of technical discipline and musical creativity needed to build a healthy and rewarding relationship with the violin. I hope to help you build such a relationship with your instrument.
It is my goal to help you find repertoire that feeds your soul, develop a consistent routine that will ensure progress, and to help you develop a physically-healthy technical approach to the instrument.
Working with me will be fun! I am quite the optimist and love celebrating each lesson! Lessons will consist of exploration, problem solving, and most importantly they will offer a space for your musical perspectives and ideas to grow and flourish.
My practice routine consists of a pragmatic approach to scales, etudes, technique exercises, and solo repertoire. I view each practice session as having two main goals: Technical accuracy, and intentional musicality.
My approach to teaching is slightly different, in that I will help you find your own routine and goals that work best for you. I want to learn about your unique interests and musical goals!
