About Julie
Violinist Juliana Sharp has studied at Juilliard and the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is the first undergraduate student to ever receive a Suzuki Pedagogy degree and be registered to teach books 1-10, and maintains an active private studio in Rocky Hill, CT.
Ms. Julie has trained students of all ages from beginners through conservatory level.

I taught in high school but fell in love with teaching when I took the Suzuki teaching courses in college! Ever since then I've taught hundreds of young violinists in CT!
I studied at Juilliard, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Hartt School of Music. I was the first undergrad student at CIM to complete the Suzuki training and be registered to teach books 1-10, and I am taking the courses AGAIN at Hartt to obtain even more teaching ideas! Most violin teachers only take the courses one time, and are not registered for all the books.

For a beginner student, I want to set up a student correctly and teach them the proper technique from the very first lesson. Too often, students with violin teachers who don't promote proper technique may spend years down the road fixing things, or worse, feeling pain when they play, so I make sure that the student is relaxed in proper playing position all the time!
It is important to note that the end goal is the same whether the student is just starting the violin or a professional violinist--to create a beautiful sound with a body free of any tension.
I have worked with young kids ages 3 and up, all the way through retired adults!
I have experience working with children of underpriviledged backgrounds and offer a scholarship to two hardworking kids in my studio.
I have experience working with kids with ADD/ADHD and special needs.
Do not hire the cheapest teacher--they often do not have the qualifications or the experience. Also, do not hire the most expensive teacher--they often are too busy with their professional playing and sometimes don't take students seriously.
At the end of one of my lessons, a student gave me a picture he drew of me and my violin. It was so precious!
