About Lawrence

I am an experienced animator, illustrator and Programme Leader of BA (Hons) Animation and have been teaching and running courses in art, graphic design, TV & film and animation for the best part of 11 years. I have an extensive background in teaching ranging from Years 10 & 11 to Level 7 Masters. I teach because I want to encourage the next generation of young people and adults to follow their dream job in an environment that is welcoming and understanding rather than authoritative. I love meeting other enthusiastic creatives like myself and helping those who may be struggling in education with a holistic and humanistic approach to teaching.

About the lesson

1 to 1 support and workshops on everything from the principles of animation and parallaxing in 2D to rigging and node set up in Harmony, Maya and Blender. Character design and pre-production documentation can also be covered as part of your tutoring. Just let me know what you want and we can negotiate from there. I have worked as a Programme Leader for nearly a decade now teaching adult learners but I have previously run a Fine Art and Graphic Design course for Year 10 & 11, Level 3 Years 1 and 2 and have taught up to Level 7 Masters at UAL. I teach Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboard Pro, Autodesk Maya, Blender, Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Photoshop. I have taught Motion Graphics to Graphic Design & Illustration students and film studies to TV & Film Students. I am flexible in my approach and can easily adapt to you and your learning needs on the fly. I am happy to help with degree students that want a top up in their teaching and will take the time to get to grips with what you need out of a given project. I am also happy to help out freelancers and people who just have a passing interest in the world of animation and want to take it up as a hobby. I will follow up requests in the evening after my day job running the Animation degree at South Essex College. I can teach online or, on request, in the local area.
