About Jay
I am a friendly, patient and dedicated private tutor with 10 years of experience supporting children with their learning and development.
I specialise in Maths, English and Science, providing tuition for KS1, KS2 and KS3 pupils, as well as 11+ preparation. Over the years, I have worked with children of different abilities and learning styles, and I understand the importance of adapting lessons to suit each individual child.
I studied Law at university, which developed my analytical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills. I bring these skills into my teaching, particularly when helping children develop their reasoning and approach challenging problems with confidence.
I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and understood. My teaching style is patient and supportive, while still maintaining clear structure and high expectations. I encourage pupils to ask questions, learn from mistakes and become increasingly independent in their learning.
I am also DBS checked, and I understand the importance of creating a safe, positive and professional learning environment.
Whether your child needs additional support with schoolwork, wants to strengthen their foundations, or is preparing for the 11+, I am committed to helping them build confidence and reach their potential.
I offer face-to-face tuition in Slough and online lessons.

Personalised, engaging lessons tailored to your child
Every lesson is tailored to your child's individual needs, ability and learning goals. I aim to create a friendly and supportive environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence.
I begin by identifying the areas your child is confident in and those that may need further development. Lessons are then structured around these needs, with clear explanations, guided practice and activities designed to reinforce understanding.
For KS1–KS3, I can support children with Maths, English and Science, including schoolwork, homework, revision, comprehension, grammar, problem-solving and areas where they may have gaps in their knowledge.
For 11+ preparation, lessons can focus on Maths, English, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, problem-solving, accuracy, speed and exam technique, with practice adapted to your child's current level.
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Some children need to revisit the fundamentals, while others benefit from being challenged beyond their current schoolwork. I adapt the pace and difficulty accordingly.
