About Sophie

Hello! My name is Sophie, I have been teaching violin since 2017 and started playing the violin in 2005. In my musical journey, I have learned Suzuki, and AMEB methods, and completed the AmusA diploma with distinction. I have also obtained several bursaries and a music scholarship from Methodist Ladies' College (Primary School) and St Mary's Anglican Girls' School (Senior School), respectively. I was also a member of the West Australian Youth Orchestras from 2008-2017 and more recently, the West Coast Philharmonic Orchestra. I am enthusiastic about sharing my musical experience with my students and believe that music isn't just about notes.

About the lesson

I believe that building a strong technical foundation at the beginning of your/your child's musical journey is very important, and so practising scales and exercises is essential.

I am offering to teach using the Suzuki or AMEB books and endeavour to make your learning experience rewarding as well as enjoyable, whether it be learning for leisure or preparing for exams/auditions.

Before the first lesson, I am happy to organise a 15-30min meeting so that I can get to know you/your child and discuss how lessons will run.
