About Stephanie

I am a piano, voice, ukulele, theatre, songwriting, composition and music theory instructor with 20+ years experience working with students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners and emerging professionals. Alongside teaching, I am also an active performer, which helps me connect lesson material to real-world musical and performance situations.

At the heart of my teaching is a focus on connection and understanding. I take time to learn how each student thinks, learns, and responds, and I adapt my approach so that lessons feel clear, supportive, and achievable. My goal is always to make music feel accessible while still building strong technical foundations and long-term skills.

I work with children, teens, and adults, and I am comfortable supporting a wide range of goals, including casual learning, exam preparation, auditions, and professional development. I love helping students build confidence, consistency, and positive practice habits.

A key part of my teaching focuses on performance skills and overall musical wellbeing. This includes helping students manage nerves, build stage confidence, and develop healthy habits around practice and preparation so they feel steady and in control when it matters most.

My teaching style is friendly, patient, and structured. I aim to break down complex ideas into simple, practical steps that students can immediately apply, while keeping lessons engaging and encouraging. Above all, I want students to feel supported, understood, and proud of their progress as musicians and learners.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals with a strong focus on healthy technique, musical understanding, and confidence building. I work with students from beginners through to advanced levels, including aspiring professionals and performing artists seeking individualized coaching and refinement.

I bring extensive experience as both a teacher and performer, which allows me to bridge technical development with real-world performance application. My approach is structured but flexible, adapting to different learning styles including neurodivergent learners, and ensuring students feel supported while making consistent, measurable progress.

A typical lesson includes technical warm-ups, targeted skill development, repertoire work, and integrated theory when appropriate. I break concepts into clear, manageable steps and use demonstration, repetition, exploration, and practical application to make learning accessible and effective.

I also place strong emphasis on performance readiness, helping students prepare for auditions, exams, recordings, or live performance with practical tools for confidence, focus, and stage presence.

My teaching style is supportive and detail-oriented, balancing discipline with encouragement. What sets me apart is my ability to combine professional-level performance insight with an adaptive, student-centered teaching method that meets each learner where they are while advancing them toward their goals.
