About Serena
I am currently a fifth year medical student at the University of Cambridge. I offer a high quality tutoring in Science and Maths as well as personal statement, UKCAT and BMAT support for medical school applications. I have several years experience tutoring students in Biology, Chemistry and Maths for both A-level and GCSE exams. Through my experiences I have developed my ability to adapt and tailor my teaching methods in explaining difficult concepts to children of varying abilities. I have also been involved in mentoring sixth form students for medical university applications. I am currently involved in a teaching programme at the University of Cambridge, teaching other medical students through which I am working towards a teaching qualification.
As part of my medical degree, I have obtained a First Class Honours degree in Medical Sciences. I have also been awarded numerous prestigious prizes including the Rashbass Prize in Physiology, Scholarships at Trinity College Cambridge and a national prize by the Royal Society of Medicine. I have also been involved in both lab-based and clinical research at UCL Cancer Institute, University of Cambridge and Royal Papworth Hospital.
As your tutor, I would hope to identify your own strengths and weaknesses and work on these, specifically tailoring my teaching methods to your needs. I would encourage you to think laterally and question me in order to build your understanding of learnt concepts. Additionally, I would work with you to practice past paper questions and discuss these with you to ensure complete understanding to prepare you for exams. I believe that a strong foundation knowledge combined with honed exam technique will give you the best chance at excelling!
