About Jo

Fashion lover! Sewing enthusiast! Crazy about creativity. I am a business owner and dream maker with a very interesting creative background in costumes and other creative stuff. I am founder of Sew Rich, a company passionate about preserving the skill of sewing and creating quality clothing that not only makes clients look and feel rich (obviously) but also fit to suit their bodies and to last! I have worked in theater since 2013- from Abu Dhabi to America before deciding I wanted to dress real people, unique people, awesome people out of Australia. I also have expert experience in alterations, which believe it or not is such a vital skill to have and sadly not many people want to do it or love to do it. I have made men’s suits working as a tailor for a company producing men’s custom made suits and dressmaking bridesmaids dresses, baby christening gowns and evening wear, as well as a freelance pattern maker/sample machinist that oversees the entire garment process of interpreting the design, making the pattern, cutting the fabric, sewing sample, fittings and the final construction. Let me tell you! Sewing is not for the faint hearted. It is for the brave, the ones that can push through the pain of failed ideas and monotonous repetitive work and the ones that truly believe practice makes perfect. Tutoring is a sure way to help you stay motivated especially to keep you going through times when you’re wondering if this journey is really worth it. It is worth it! Worth all the money and time you must invest in order to truly harness a skill that will provide you with endless opportunities for the rest of your life! I really love what I do. I have been very privileged to have studied my profession and work to develop my skills in various industries over the years. I continue to actively pursue my learning even as a business owner as I want to excel in my profession in all aspects of construction and design. I want to help you tap into that beautiful brain and develop one of the most important yet underrated skill sets in the world! I look forward to cheering you on this amazing journey as you learn the wonderful art of sewing and creativity.

Details

Minimum hours per class is 3 hours to receive the $85 per hour rate. Paper, calico and some supplies included. I will be hands on with you on your journey. Don’t struggle alone! I’m here to help take the mental pressure off you! This package is for a lesson of either pattern making or sewing not both. Each subject requires a lot of concentration therefore needs to be scheduled separately. If your project is very complex then a 5 hour to 10 hour session may be required for a sewing class. A combination of a 3 hour class for pattern making may be combined with a 5 hour or 10 hour sewing session to be divided into two days.
