About Janus Maruu Luis
I am a passionate and dedicated student who has a strong interest in the Filipino language, Tagalog, and Philippine literature. I enjoy sharing what I know with others and helping students understand lessons in a way that is simple, engaging, and easy to remember.
I believe that teaching is not only about giving information, but also about creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing themselves. When tutoring, I am patient and willing to explain concepts in different ways depending on the learner’s needs and level of understanding.
I am confident in teaching basic to intermediate Filipino and Tagalog, including vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and literary topics. I can also help students appreciate Filipino literature by explaining stories, poems, characters, themes, symbolism, and the cultural background behind different works.
My goal as a tutor is to make learning Filipino enjoyable rather than intimidating. I want my students to become more confident in using the language while also developing an appreciation for Filipino culture and literatature

I am a confident and enthusiastic Filipino tutor who believes that learning a language and understanding literature should never feel intimidating or boring. I teach Tagalog, Filipino, Filipino literature, and Filipino culture to students from elementary to high school level, adapting my lessons to each learner’s needs and pace.
My teaching style is interactive, visual, and student-centered. I use visual aids, relatable examples, fun stories, and engaging discussions to make difficult topics easier to understand and remember. I am also comfortable providing one-on-one tutoring sessions, allowing me to give students the attention and guidance they need to improve.
I have experience helping students who struggle with reading comprehension and understanding lessons, and this has taught me to be patient, encouraging, and creative when explaining concepts. I especially enjoy introducing students to stories and Filipino literature because I believe that a good story can make learning feel more meaningful and exciting.
Whether a student needs help improving their Tagalog, understanding a Filipino lesson, reading and analyzing literature, or simply becoming more confident in the subject, I aim to create a comfortable, supportive, and enjoyable learning experience.
I am available for online tutoring sessions in the afternoon and would love to help students discover that Filipino can be more than just a school subject—it can be a language and culture they can genuinely enjoy.
