About Samantha

I am a passionate Youth Mental Health Clinician, who works day-to-day with young people in both primary-school and centre-based Community mental health settings respectively providing brief and ongoing therapeutic intervention.

I am in my final semester of an undergraduate Psychology degree at the University of Melbourne, which I have been completing part-time since 2019 alongside gaining bountiful practical clinical experience in the mental health field. I am also completing a Minor in Philosophy alongside my Psychology Major.

In addition to working in mental health, I have past experience working for a prominent tutoring organisation in Melbourne, supporting those studying English and Mathematics at both primary and secondary level.

In my free time I read, write, do yoga, play the acoustic guitar, crochet and paint. I also have two parrots, Ricky and Winter, who keep me busy!

I am keen to work with people from all backgrounds and value the opportunity to help where I can!

About the lesson

I am a final year Psychology Undergraduate student at the University of Melbourne, who has extensive past tutoring experience in English for a prominent, Melbourne-based primary-and-secondary-level tutoring organisation. I also have near-completed tertiary-level qualifications in Psychology, Philosophy and the Arts, as well as a wealth of working experience in these areas detailed further below.

I achieved my VCE in 2018, and since then, have been studying part-time whilst gaining experience in my chosen field, working as a Youth Mental Health Clinician with young people aged 4-25 and their families, and providing ongoing therapeutic support as part of a national mental health service. I am working towards becoming a registered Clinical Psychologist.

I am flexible in my approach to tutoring and seek to adjust my session structure to suit the unique needs of each individual.

Through my previous tutoring experience and my work day-to-day in the youth mental health space, I have gained a great deal of experience working with a wide range of people from all walks of life and backgrounds. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, young people who are neurodiverse, as well as those who simply struggle with traditional schooling structure. I understand through my experience that all young people are unique individuals who require different tools in order to achieve. It is my goal through my sessions to be able to provide them with the support, encouragement and tools to do so.

I am more than happy to negotiate lesson lengths based on what feels most appropriate for the student I am working with. I am happy to work with all young people, at both primary and secondary levels, who are engaging with school programs in some capacity, up to the end of Secondary School.
