About Matthew
Final-year BSc Mathematics student at UCD from Gorey, County Wexford. 3 years’ experience and direct experience of today’s Leaving Cert, having started tutoring soon after I finished - H1s in Applied Maths, Higher Maths and Physics. I tutor Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Mathematics, Applied Mathematics & Physics at all levels.
I have a passion for maths that comes across in my grinds. I use research-backed learning methods so students study more efficiently. I didn’t study all day for my Leaving Cert. I used evidence-based study strategies and got top results. I teach students how to learn the material, not just to memorise it.
I teach with a patient, structured and approachable style. Lessons are tailored with a focus on clear & concise explanations and building confidence so topics stay understood, not just memorised. I design each session from past papers and exam standards and I prioritise weak points, exam technique and time management. I am reliable, ambitious for my students, and committed to measurable improvement.

My lessons are designed to be both comprehensive and results-driven while fully tailored to each student. I prepare individual plans using past papers, exam-focused notes, and custom problem sets. We work through concepts step by step, focusing on weak points first. Each lesson ends with clear takeaways, targeted practice, and strategies for exam technique and time management. Students receive worked solutions, additional notes, and practice sheets after every session to reinforce learning.
I use research-backed methods so students learn efficiently and build lasting understanding instead of short-term memorisation. I place strong emphasis on building confidence, so students understand the material – not just memorise it. I provide ongoing support through email and messaging 7 days a week, so questions or difficulties can be addressed quickly.
I have experience teaching students of all capacities and abilities, including autistic students. My approach is patient, structured, and approachable, ensuring every student feels supported and able to succeed.
