About Tom
I'm a personable and patient teacher, adaptable to each student's unique personality and learning style. I hope not only to be a tutor, but to be a friend. I graduated the IB with a score of 40 (equiv. ATAR 98.05) and I have consistently achieved high grades in my degree, and in my final semester, my weighted average mark is at 78.9, a grade which speaks to my academic dedication. I am coming back to tutoring after a while, having tutored younger peers in High School (with a valid Working With Children Check).

Teaching study skills, essay writing and content simultaneously. Discussion plays a central part of my teaching style, helping students to learn vocabulary and concepts effectively, but at their own pace. I teach IB History, Language + Literature and English Literature, as well as all VCE English subjects, and VCE History. I also teach two Unimelb subjects ( Secret Life of Language LING10001 Phonetics LING20005). A typical lesson will be at least one hour (or longer, depending on the rhythms of our discussion).
