About Erik
I am a passionate Guitar tutor with over 11 years of experience teaching college students. I enjoy helping students learn guitar in a clear, creative, and enjoyable way.
My teaching style is interactive and student-focused. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit individual needs. I focus on steady progress and practical learning.
I use innovative teaching techniques such as song-based lessons, structured warm-ups, and hands-on technique exercises. Students learn chords, strumming, fingerpicking, and rhythm while playing real music. I also use backing tracks to improve timing.
Music theory is taught in a simple and useful way so students understand how it works on the guitar. I also encourage improvisation and creative playing to build confidence.
I create a friendly learning space where students feel motivated and supported. My aim is to help college students enjoy playing guitar and grow into confident players.

My teaching approach for Guitar focuses on creativity, critical thinking, mentorship, and accountability. I believe music should be both enjoyable and meaningful. My lessons encourage students to experiment with melodies, improvise, and develop their personal style.
Critical thinking is a vital part of my teaching. I help students understand chord structures, scales, and song patterns so they can analyse, learn, and perform music confidently. This approach also empowers students to compose and create their own pieces.
I emphasise accountability by guiding students to set goals, practise regularly, and monitor their progress. Constructive feedback and encouragement help students stay motivated and confident.
Besides Guitar, I can teach music theory, ear training, songwriting, and basic performance skills. Lessons are flexible, tailored to the student’s pace, level, and interests, making learning engaging and effective.
My goal is to mentor students into becoming self-reliant, creative, and passionate musicians who enjoy exploring and expressing music.
