About Jacob
I remember being a student facing what seemed like endless exams and studies. While I've always had a passion for technology, I wasn’t always as enthusiastic about studying maths and sciences at GCSE and A-Level.
Things changed for me when I moved abroad with my family and started studying at an English private school. I was fortunate to have incredible teachers at my sixth form who helped me realise my strengths in maths and sciences by making hard topics more approachable. They encouraged me to study maths, further maths, and chemistry at A-Level, which eventually led me to pursue a STEM degree and a career in programming.
Teaching is something I've always had a knack for. During sixth form, I ran two elective classes: robotics and Objective-C programming. I enjoy the challenge of making complex topics approachable, empowering students to succeed in their exams and future careers.
My day job as a software engineer is highly technical. Not only does tutoring offer me mentorship opportunities which I don't get often in my engineering work, I also get to give something back to students by helping them overcome challenges in maths, statistics, computing, and coding.
