About Uday

I'm a software engineering graduate from the University of Canterbury, where I completed my Bachelor of Software Engineering with First Class Honors in 2025. Alongside my studies, I worked as an official Programming Tutor at UC, supporting students across two introductory programming courses — so I know firsthand what it takes to go from confused beginner to confident coder.

During my degree I completed two software engineering internships at New Zealand tech companies, building real production systems used by actual customers. This means I don't just teach theory, I can show you how the concepts you're learning connect to the way software is actually built and used in industry.

I'm patient, approachable, and genuinely enjoy helping people work through problems. I believe that with the right explanation and a bit of encouragement, programming is something anyone can get to grips with. My goal in every session is to make sure you leave feeling more capable and confident than when you arrived, not just with the answer, but with a clearer understanding of how to approach similar problems on your own.

I take punctuality and preparation seriously, and I'm committed to making every lesson worth your time.

About the lesson

I focus on building genuine understanding rather than just getting through assignments. My approach is hands-on and conversational. we work through problems together, and I encourage students to think out loud so I can pinpoint exactly where things click or don't.

Lessons are typically 1–2 hours and are tailored to what you're working on, whether that's preparing for an exam, debugging an assignment, or getting ahead on upcoming content.

I tutored 100+ students at the University of Canterbury in COSC121 and COSC131, so I'm very familiar with the UC curriculum and the kinds of problems students commonly get stuck on. I hold a Bachelor of Software Engineering with First Class Honours from UC, and I've applied these skills professionally across two software engineering internships in New Zealand.

My lessons are best suited for university students (particularly UC) and senior secondary students tackling programming for the first time. Whether you're completely new to coding or just need help untangling a tricky concept, I'll meet you at your level and help you build real confidence with the material.
