About Sasmit

I am a qualified secondary Maths teacher with a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics with QTS. My PGCE work received an individual faculty commendation for my classroom practice, lesson planning and positive impact on pupils.

I chose to teach Maths because I enjoy making difficult ideas feel manageable. I am patient, approachable and comfortable explaining the same idea in different ways until it makes sense. I particularly value the moment when a student who previously avoided a topic begins to recognise the patterns, attempt questions independently and realise that they are capable of succeeding.

My lessons are simple: we look at different questions, spot the patterns and learn how to recognise which method to use. I do not want students to memorise steps without understanding them. Instead, we look for clues in the wording, identify the important information and compare similar questions to see what changes and what stays the same.

I first explain and model the method, then we work through a question together, discussing each step and addressing any misunderstandings as they arise. The student then attempts similar questions with less support each time. We review any mistakes carefully, focusing on why they occurred and what the student can do differently next time.

This approach helps students become more confident when facing unfamiliar questions, particularly at GCSE, where the correct method is not always obvious. My lessons are aimed at KS3 and GCSE Maths students and usually last 60 minutes.

I hold a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics and a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics with QTS for ages 11–19. My PGCE work received an individual faculty commendation for my classroom practice, lesson planning and positive impact on pupils.
