About Safiya
Hi, I’m Safiya. I graduated with a maths degree from Exeter and have been tutoring online and in person for the last three years. I’m naturally drawn to one-on-one teaching because it’s where real breakthroughs happen—not just with the maths itself, but with the mindset around it. So many students carry heavy, unspoken limiting beliefs about what they can or can’t do, usually because a topic wasn't explained in a way that clicked for them. My drive to teach comes from helping you unravel those mental blocks, strip away the frustration, and realise that you're far more capable than you’ve been giving yourself credit for.

Building strong rapport is at the heart of how I tutor; I take the time to really get to know each student, understand their unique learning style, and pinpoint where they need the most support. I focus on creating a warm, patient environment where students feel completely safe to ask questions, voice where they’re stuck, and make mistakes without judgement. Rather than relying on rote memorisation, I guide students through the why behind the maths using targeted hints, helping them think through problems independently. By fostering this sense of safety and tailored encouragement, my goal is to build genuine confidence, encouraging students to be more adventurous problem-solvers and leave sessions feeling capable and motivated.
