About Carys
As a young tutor I am friendly and approachable, with an immense passion for my subjects that I hope to share with students who may or may not currently feel confident approaching them. I currently study History of Art MSt at the University of Oxford, where I have already achieved a First in my BA course. At university I have been involved in creating demonstration interview and advice videos for potential applications for the History of Art department, so I am practised in explaining what tutors are looking for and how the system works. I achieved A*A*A at A Level (History, English Literature, and Fine Art) and was awarded the prize for best in subject for English Literature. My tutoring experience currently involves producing revision material and advice for students through from GCSE, to A Level, to university application and I also have experience of mentoring younger students at school through leading a reading group and running weekly morning activities for students, as well as leading sessions at a university summer school for students in year 9 to year 12.

I am a History of Art MSt student at the University of Oxford, enthusiastic to tutor in English and History of Art for KS4 and KS5, as well as provide guidance on UK university applications (especially Oxbridge). I achieved an A* for English Literature A Level, a 9 for both English Literature and Language GCSEs, and I am currently on track for a First in History of Art at university. When working with students I aim to keep sessions engaging and enjoyable, led by their personal interests whilst keeping exam board requirements in mind. The teaching methods I use are flexible based on students’ personal preferences, but discussion is a central part of my tutoring since verbalising what features you can see in a text or artwork is a highly beneficial way to learn what to look for in an exam situation. With recent experience of going through the Oxbridge admission system and experience creating demonstration interviews for my department, I am able to provide guidance on UCAS statements, essays for submission or interview preparation, in either a one-off or multiple sessions. What I feel is most important when helping students do this is to keep focus on their individual voice, to support and build on what ideas they already have rather than make changes to fit a certain ‘mould’. University application can be intimidating, especially to Oxbridge with its elite reputation, however I am keen to encourage students of all backgrounds to have the confidence and the right resources to make a successful application. My tutoring sessions are remote online-based, lasting an hour, and reasonably priced. If you are interested in tutoring, please get in touch, I hope to work with you soon!

Carys would be a perfect tutor for anyone studying for either GCSE or A Level exams in addition to personal statements for students looking to apply for university. Her patience and writing ability is second to none, having helped me with various pieces of written work on multiple occasions.
Highly recommend!Carys has been extremely conscientious and motivated. She is very approachable andgreat at communicating and working out problems together. I would really recommend her as a tutor - she manages to make it both fun and extremely helpful and informative!!
Carys is an extremely personable tutor who will work hard to make sure you get you want out of your sessions. My brain works in a rather odd way but Carys was great at listening and understanding how it works to really help me do the best I can. I could not recommend Carys enough!
