About Hannah

I am a first year university student at Flinders University in Adelaide currently undertaking a double degree in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) / Bachelor of Science, majoring in biology and minoring in maths. I have a passion for delivering quality education and having received tutoring myself in year 12 for the betterment of my skills, I certainly see the value it can have to enriching a person's learning. I have experience in working with children as young as 5 through to 18 years old during the 6 years I spent volunteering at various programs such as a leader. In these roles I was able to develop strong interpersonal skills with which I could create a rapport with the kids - an element integral to efficient teaching. My time as a student dance teacher also allowed for the cultivation of teaching techniques which translate to the communication of academic knowledge. Throughout my studies during high school and the years that followed, I offered support to a number of people, including my peers who aspired to better their grades in areas that I excelled at - namely maths, science (biology), English and art. Although this experience is informal, I would like to utilise the skills that I have grown from it and my course to formally tutor students in science. I specialise in biology and basic chemistry. I have taken on the role as maths tutor for the better part of this year with much success and hope to continue delivering tuition in the Seaford area.

About the lesson

To begin with, I would like to evaluate the level of understanding of the basics so that we can work towards the most efficient schedule. It is also crucial for me to understand what the student's learning style is so that I can cater to it to the best of my abilities. To ensure the retention of the learning, I like to integrate their passions and hobbies, or whatever makes them "tick" so to speak. Each lesson would be in alignment with schoolwork and/or textbooks so that it can be relayed between home and school, and out in the real world. The most important thing to me is that what is taught is practical and relevant to real life skills, so I aim to deliver this through role-playing and activities
