About Shaun

Hi, I’m Shaun Whittaker. I’m a 17-year-old A Level student with a deep passion for languages and I’m fluent in both German. My journey with German has been entirely self-taught, so I truly understand what it means to start from scratch and push through the ups and downs of learning a new language. I know the hurdles that can trip you up and, more importantly, I know the strategies that work. I've been in your shoes and that’s exactly why I want to mentor others in German. This language has become a big part of who I am and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with other curious learners. If you’re ready to explore either language with someone who knows the process inside out, I’d love to help guide you along the way.

About the lesson

Looking to level up your German? Let’s make it happen... your way. Every learner is different and my lessons are designed to reflect that. Whether you're studying for an exam or just wanting to chat with confidence, we’ll tailor each session to suit your goals, pace and interests. I place strong emphasis on two things I believe are key to mastering any language: building your vocabulary and forming sentences. Grammar won’t be taught through endless memorisation of declension tables; instead, we’ll focus on real examples, practical use and active practice, so tricky rules become second nature. Each lesson comes with a clean and concise PowerPoint presentation packed with everything you need and it can be delivered easily via Microsoft Teams. Lessons are typically 1–2 hours but flexible depending on your needs. Over the past year, I’ve tutored three students for free — two in German, one in Greek — and the results speak for themselves. My Greek learner started with zero knowledge and now builds complex sentences with ease across all tenses. Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A Levels or just learning for fun, these lessons are for people of all ages wanting to improve their German.
