About Nuria
I have studied in music conservatories for seventeen years. I started when I was nine years old, and for the first ten years, I had the same flute teacher, until I started my Bachelor at the age of 18. My first teacher focused all of her energy in ensuring that I developed my own musical identity. She guided me to create my own ways to study flute in order to make artistic choices and transmit that identity. Having such a teacher is the reason why I continued being a musician, and why I developed an intense passion for teaching. It also deeply influenced the kind of teacher I would become.
I have been teaching for many years to students of all ages, from six-year-olds to adults. I have given lessons both to individual students and to small groups, and I have some experience in ensemble conducting (see CV for details). Besides, having worked as a historical tour guide in Amsterdam and Utrecht has given me an excellent training when it comes to speaking in public for long periods (each tour lasted about three hours) and made me develop new systems to transmit contents in an entertaining and effective way.
I have always found a wonderful source of inspiration in every single student I have had.

I have several years of experience as a flute teacher, with a Master's degree in Flute at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and teaching is one of my biggest passions. I just obtained mh Master's degree in Historical Performance at the Juilliard School, and at this moment I am studying a music Doctorate program at Stony Brook University.
NOTE: I am a professional Baroque flute player (traverso), and I will be happy to teach you how to play that instrument if you're interested!
As a music teacher, I guide a student to discover their own potential, open doors of knowledge, and encourage them to look through those doors and dare to figure out the person they want to become. Each student has unique needs in that process, and empathizing with them at such level constitutes for me the most captivating challenge.
My classes are not just technical. I will teach you to explore all the musical possibilities that one piece can have, and by giving you concrete tools, I'll help you find and develop your artistic identity!
Each student is different. We will determine the lesson length depending on your needs and preferences. I give lessons of half an hour, an hour or an hour and a half.
