About Juanita
I've recently completed my A-levels with predictions of A's across the subjects I studied (Sociology, Spanish, and History) and can tell you first-hand that A-levels were a stressful time, particularly for sociology. I remember classmates frantically trying to recall key terms, concepts, theories, and research methods in groups ahead of the exam and me standing in silence - fearful - but silent. Luckily for me, I found the exams to be a breeze, but I noticed that feeling was not universal. Perhaps it was because Sociology was my favourite subject, that I found myself recalling with classmates after the exam the questions asked and what one could have written for them, in the hope that they would find some reassurance that they didn’t do as badly as they thought. Whilst these post-exam meditations are incapable of changing anything already written on paper, I’ve since been determined to ensure that if I could use my zeal and aptitude for sociology to equip anyone struggling with it at A-levels, with the knowledge, understanding, and hopefulness needed for their future sociology exams, I would. It would mean nothing more than to see other students flourish in a subject I’ve always enjoyed.

2 hour sessions will be held on both Wednesday and Thursday, which will be available for any student in year 12 or 13. You have complete control over the lesson! For example, if you want a concept of a particular module explained e.g. Parsons' focal socialising agency theory of Education (hopefully you’re familiar with the term year 13 haha), or advice and practice on how to answer the question types for Paper 1, 2, and 3 Sociology, an hour and 40 minutes of the lesson will be centred on those needs. The remaining 20 minutes will allow you to ask any additional questions you may have about what we’ve gone over, what you wish to do the next time you decide to book a lesson, and/or any concerns/worries you may have about sociology or just being an A-level student in general. The primary source of learning material used will be provided by me, as I have PDF versions of both books one and two of A-level sociology. It is standard that whatever you were unsure about that we covered in our session that you say you’ve now understood, will be tested by me providing you with an essay question to do in your own time, be it a 10, 20, or 30 marker. This will be the first thing reviewed the next time we meet with a rough estimation of the band of marks you’re in as well as an overall mark.
