About Dorothy
I have degrees in Science (Physics) and Engineering (Mechanical). I have tutored on and off since 1997 and taught final year high school mathematics for ten years. I have worked with people of all ages, from young children to mature adults, and a variety of nationalities, including international students and refugees.

Everyone who seeks tutoring starts with some knowledge. An informal assessment of relevant skills and knowledge is always my starting point. I look at what students' goals are - what knowledge and skills they are wanting to gain - and work towards them. My aim is to have a student need me less and less.

Perfect! She was able to work with my son who can sometimes be difficult to get motivated
- Adam organized a lesson on behalf of his son, P. P and I looked at some of his recent work on fractions, decimals and percentages. P processes information quickly, but not always accurately. He needs to read questions carefully and consider how reasonable his answers are. P would benefit from memorizing multiplication facts for whole numbers up to 10 so that he is able to recall them quickly when needed.Dorothy's response :
