About Neville
I am a French and business graduate with an international background and several years of experience using, teaching, and translating French in academic and multicultural environments.
Having lived in Brussels before moving to the United States in 2017, French has been a central part of both my education and daily life. During my final years of high school in the U.S., I worked as a French Teacher Assistant, helping students strengthen their understanding of the language and improve their communication skills. I later continued this role during college, where I again supported learners in developing their speaking, reading, and comprehension abilities.
In addition to teaching experience, I have also translated educational books and materials from French to English and vice versa for an organization focused on helping multilingual children (K-12) learn English. This experience strengthened my understanding of both languages and taught me how to adapt communication to different learning levels and backgrounds.
Today, I remain actively engaged with the French language through weekly French conversation groups in Rosslyn and Washington, DC, as well as through French books, podcasts, films, and music. In fact, most of my daily media consumption is still in French, including a Spotify playlist that is predominantly French music. Staying consistently immersed in the language helps me maintain a natural and current understanding of conversational French, pronunciation, expressions, and cultural nuances.
My goal as a tutor is not only to help learners improve their French, but also to create a supportive and comfortable environment where you feel confident practicing, making mistakes, and progressing naturally.

My teaching approach is interactive and practical rather than overly academic. I believe language is learned best through consistent exposure, active conversation, and real-life application. A typical lesson usually begins with a short conversational warm-up to help you practice speaking naturally and build confidence, followed by focused activities tailored to your individual goals and level. Lessons may include guided conversations, pronunciation exercises, listening exercises, listening activities, reading passages, vocabulary reinforcement, grammar application in context, and scenario-based discussions. I also provide personalized exercises and recommendations designed to target specific challenges and reinforce progress between sessions.
