About Victoire
I'm an exchange student for the semester at Columbia's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. I completed my Master's degree in French literature last year ; right before that, I taught French at Duke University for a year. I have a lot of experience when it comes to learning languages, coming from a multilingual home. Aside from French and English, I speak conversational Italian, and I studied German, Spanish and Arabic. I also taught French for a year in a non-profit organization for political refugees, so I'm used to working with adult students. I've also been baby-sitting and I'm very comfortable working with children. This diversity of experiences has made me very considerate about each student's specific needs.

Being a French literature student, I enjoy teaching French through art and through culture - movies, fiction, songs, poetry. I've learned about teaching French by watching my mother who has been teaching it for more than 10 years and learned it herself as a child through songs and literature. I believe in a teaching method that is deeply rooted in cultural tools - I find it more pleasant, and it allows me to engage the student in a relaxed, recreational way, while building an ironclad and reassuring grammatical foundation.
