About Ross
I am an avid horn player, conductor and composer who read physics with music performance at the University of St Andrews. In September, I will begin studying for a Masters in French horn performance at the Royal Northern College of Music. I began playing the French horn at the age of 10 and am an alumni of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department as well as the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland and Great Britain.
At the University of St Andrews, I was awarded the Laidlaw Music Centre Wind and Brass Quintet Scholarships and held principal positions in the university's chamber and symphony orchestras.
I have previously been employed as the conductor of the Tullis Russell Mills Brass Band and University of Dundee Orchestra.

I am a passionate and dedicated musician who is keen to share my love of music and inspire students through their own musical journeys. Having recently graduated from the University of St Andrews with degrees in Physics and Music, and with plans to begin a Master's in Horn Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in September, I bring both academic and practical experience to my teaching.
My background has provided me with a unique approach to horn pedagogy, allowing me to offer pragmatic explanations to technical challenges while also encouraging students to develop their own musicality and artistic confidence.
My lessons are designed to provide a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, overcoming challenges, and progressing at their own pace. Whether preparing for exams, auditions, ensemble playing, or simply learning for enjoyment, lessons are tailored to each student's individual goals. Lesson lengths range from 30 minutes to one hour depending on the student's preferences.
