About Cole

I hold a B.A. in French Studies and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics, and over the past 9 years, I have helped learners develop comprehensive proficiency in French, combining technical mastery with expressive confidence and cultural awareness. My teaching approach emphasizes interactive learning, practical application, cultural immersion, and personalized guidance, tailoring lessons to meet each student’s goals, pace, and interests.

I have taught students across different age groups and skill levels, from beginners seeking conversational fluency to advanced learners preparing for academic or professional contexts. My approach encourages active participation, critical thinking, and authentic communication to foster fluency, confidence, and expressive skill.

Outside of teaching, I engage deeply with French literature, media, and contemporary culture to provide students with real-world examples, authentic context, and enriched learning experiences. Witnessing learners progress from hesitant speakers to confident, articulate, and culturally aware communicators is incredibly fulfilling. My mission is to empower students to speak, write, and understand French fluently, while appreciating the cultural richness and expressive possibilities of the language.

About the lesson

French lessons are most effective when learners develop both linguistic competence and cultural awareness. I focus on grammar, verb conjugation, sentence construction, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading comprehension, listening, conversation skills, writing, and cultural context. Each lesson is highly interactive, combining structured exercises, roleplay, storytelling, and real-life scenarios to help students gain confidence, communicate naturally, and appreciate the cultural richness of the French language.

Beginners concentrate on foundational grammar, essential vocabulary, pronunciation, and simple conversation skills, building confidence for practical communication. Intermediate learners refine sentence construction, vocabulary range, oral fluency, reading comprehension, and conversational depth. Advanced learners explore literature, nuanced writing, complex idiomatic expressions, advanced conversation, and professional communication, gaining both fluency and expressive precision. Lessons incorporate discussion exercises, multimedia content, interactive tasks, and consistent feedback to reinforce understanding, retention, and practical use of French.

Learning French enhances communication skills, cognitive flexibility, cultural literacy, and self-confidence. Students gain the ability to converse naturally, write effectively, and engage meaningfully with Francophone culture.
