About Hélia
I have been a tutor for 3 years. I have helped teenagers in high school with mathematics and I also have given french tutoring to a CÉGEP student. I had a formation on « Relation d'aide en français » in CÉGEP.
I went to Tanzania and had an intership during which I helped kids with special needs.
I have been working with children for many years. I worked at a summer camp and I babysat for 5 years.
I love traveling (I lived and worked 6 weeks in Victoria (BC), I have traveled to Europe, Honduras, California, etc), so I am fluent in english and I can speak a little bit of spanish.

The most important thing to me is to develop a relationship with the student, to make them more comfortable and to make sure they see the lessons as activities and not like school.
I always make sure to ask a lot of questions to my students, to make sure they follow, understand and stay focused during the classes.
I like to vary my teaching methods. Sometimes, I make powerpoints. If that doesn't work, I am always open to new ideas. I also use exercices either from my tutoring books, or from the internet!
Finally, I always try to be positive and cheer my students. Positive words can go a long way!
