About Catherine
Hi, I’m Catherine! I’m a science graduate, netball player, and admittedly a bit of a nerd, with a passion for helping young people grow in confidence and achieve their potential. I’ve worked in a secondary school supporting students through PE interventions, wellbeing programmes, and SEND support, as well as being a Coach at a junior netball club that I now oversee as Chair.
My entire career has been centred around helping young people flourish into someone they are proud of and uncovering the potential I know they have within them. I understand that every student learns differently, and I pride myself on being patient, approachable and adaptable in my teaching style. Building strong relationships and listening to students is incredibly important to me, as it helps me understand what works best for them individually. No challenge is too big, and if one approach is not working, I will continue finding new ways to support a student until we discover what helps them feel confident and succeed.
My aim is to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing confidence, and reaching their goals both academically and personally.

I am a University of Birmingham Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences graduate with experience tutoring Maths and English, alongside coaching and mentoring young people through sport and education. I previously worked in a secondary school delivering PE interventions, wellbeing programmes, and supporting students with SEND and additional learning needs.
Alongside my day-to-day job, I’m both Chair and Coach at a junior netball club, where I work with players aged 11–18 to develop confidence, teamwork and resilience in a supportive environment.
My approach to tutoring is patient, adaptable, and student-centred. I strongly believe that no challenge is too difficult to overcome, and if one approach is not working, I will always endeavour to find another until we discover what works best for them. Building strong rapport and listening carefully to students is incredibly important to me, as understanding their experiences, boundaries and learning preferences allows lessons to be tailored in a way that helps them feel comfortable, confident, and supported whilst achieving their full potential.

I know Catherine through working together as Sabbatical Officers at the University of Birmingham, and I consider her to be one of my closest friends. Her work supporting students across the University, within sport, wellbeing, accessibility, inclusivity, education, and much more, made her an incredibly respected and trusted person who students could rely on. She has an amazing work ethic and puts so much care and effort into helping people feel valued, appreciated, and capable.
Catherine brings such upbeat energy to everything she does and has a brilliant ability to build rapport with anyone she meets. Advocating for what she believes in runs deep to her core, and she will never allow challenges or obstacles stop her from doing what is right or finding solutions to problems.
This basis is what makes her an exceptional tutor - someone who will never give up on a student and will go above and beyond to help them succeed.I’ve worked alongside Catherine through coaching and have always been incredibly impressed by her energy, creativity, and commitment to every young person she works with. She brings such a positive and encouraging presence, always with a smile on her face, and creates environments where people feel comfortable, supported, and motivated to succeed.
She is hardworking, patient, and genuinely takes the time to understand each individual and what helps them learn best. She will never give up on finding a way to help someone build confidence and succeed, which makes her an exceptional tutor and mentor.
