About Ben
I am a qualified English teacher with experience in helping adult refugees and migrants to speak and understand English with clarity and confidence. While I am relatively new to teaching, the students I have taught over the year have shown great improvement and increased enjoyment in reading and learning.
My friendly personality, empathy and sense of humour are my strongest suits, and I will put in the hard work to make sure every student can get the best help possible.

My classes are student centred, as I believe in teaching at the point of need- to recognise and focus on the areas that the student needs help with most. This may be in addressing a certain confusion or misunderstanding; helping a student to write an email, resume or cover letter for employment; or identifying the interests, goals and aspirations of the students and focusing on reaching those.
I believe learning English should be engaging and enriching, and I seek to find ways students can practice their English in every day life.
I will meet students in a place that suits them, whether that be a cafe, library or room. In the first lesson we will identify the student's needs, English level and aspirations, working from there. While I do use activities and curriculum materials, lessons are targeted towards the interests, goals and needs of the individual.
