About Lexie

こんにちは! Hi, I am Lexie and I’m a Japanese language tutor with over 5 years of private teaching experience. I’ve worked with students of all ages, from young learners as young as 8 to adults in their 60s. So I’m comfortable adapting my lessons to fit different learning styles, goals, and personalities!

I have a BA degree in Japanese Language and also studied in Japan, which gave me not only a strong academic foundation but also real life cultural experience that I bring into my lessons! I currently work at a language school, where I teach Japanese in a structured classroom environment. Alongside this, I continue to offer private tutoring, which allows me to give students a more personalized and flexible learning experience.

I travel back to Japan frequently and I love connecting language to the things like everyday conversation, pop culture, traditions, and the little things you don’t always get from textbooks alone.

My teaching style is flexible, and focused on making Japanese feel approachable and enjoyable. Whether you’re learning for travel, exams, anime, work, or personal interest, I aim to create lessons that feel both structured and fun!

At the end of the day, I want my students to feel confident using Japanese in real life and actually enjoy the process of getting there! :)

About the lesson

My lessons are personalized, engaging, and designed around each student’s goals and interests! I believe language learning should feel fun and motivating, not intimidating. I often incorporate topics students already enjoy! Such as anime, manga, fashion, gaming, music, travel, and traditional Japanese culture, to make lessons more natural and memorable.

Lessons can include:

- Conversation practice
- Reading and writing (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji)
- Grammar and vocabulary
- Pronunciation and listening
- JLPT preparation (N5-N2)
- Travel Japanese
- Casual and natural speaking styles

A typical lesson may include review, new material, speaking practice, and interactive activities tailored to your level and learning style.

I teach students from beginner to advanced intermediate levels, and I welcome learners studying for school, self-study, travel, business, or personal interest.

My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students can build confidence and genuinely enjoy learning Japanese!
