About Ayaka

I'm a native Japanese speaker currently living in Australia. Since I'm learning English myself right now, I really understand both the challenges and the joy of learning another language — that frustration when things don't quite click, but also that little spark of joy when it suddenly does.

I feel like Japanese carries a lot of depth and nuance. And honestly, living outside of Japan has made me appreciate the good things about my own country even more than when I actually lived there.

I've always had an interest in teaching Japanese. I also figured that if I start building experience now, I'll be able to share the joy of the language in an even better way down the road.

I love traveling — back when I lived in Japan, I used to go abroad about twice a year. I was especially captivated by the clarity and beauty of the ocean in Okinawa, so much so that I ended up visiting about three times a year! Beyond that, I'm into anime, snorkeling, and lately I've been hooked on podcasts about mysteries from around the world. I just love doing things that are fun, and I really enjoy meeting and connecting with people from all kinds of backgrounds.

About the lesson

My lessons are theme-based and conversation-focused — we'll pick a topic each time and just talk, in a relaxed, natural way. I want you to leave every lesson feeling like you actually used real Japanese, not just memorized it.

We can explore topics like hobbies, travel, daily life, and — my personal favorite — anime! If you're an anime fan, I love breaking down specific lines and phrases from shows: what they really mean, the nuance behind them, and how native speakers actually use that kind of language in real life.

Lessons work well for beginners through intermediate learners. I'm not a trained grammar expert (I speak Japanese naturally, not academically!), so if you're looking for deep, technical grammar explanations, this might not be the perfect fit — but if you want to build real, practical conversation skills in a fun and pressure-free environment, I'd love to help.

My teaching style is laid-back and easygoing, but lively — expect some friendly banter and genuine reactions along the way. I'm also planning to create original materials as I go, since I want to keep growing as a teacher too.
