About Rosie

Hi, I’m Rosie! I am a native Korean speaker who studied Linguistics. I have 3+ years of tutoring experience, including bidirectional teaching between Korean and English. I have taught Korean students English and helped non-Korean students learn Korean through conversation, grammar, pronunciation, reading, and writing.

My background in linguistics helps me explain language clearly and step by step, while my tutoring experience has taught me how to adjust lessons to each student’s level and goals. I am patient, organized, and encouraging, and I always try to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes as they improve.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is patient, personalized, and practical. As a native Korean speaker and UCLA Linguistics student, I like to explain Korean in a way that is easy to understand, even for complete beginners. Instead of only memorizing words or grammar rules, I help students understand how Korean is actually used in real conversations.

In a typical lesson, I first check the student’s level, goals, and learning style. Then we usually begin with a short review or warm-up conversation, learn new vocabulary or grammar, practice pronunciation and sentence-making, and finish with speaking practice or a short activity. I also like to include natural expressions, cultural notes, and examples from everyday life, K-dramas, K-pop, travel situations, or academic topics depending on the student’s interests.

What sets me apart is that I understand Korean both as a native speaker and as someone who studies language academically. Because of my background in linguistics, I can break down grammar, pronunciation, sentence structure, and meaning in a clear and organized way. I also create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and practicing without pressure.

My lessons are for anyone who wants to learn Korean, from complete beginners to intermediate learners. I can help students who want to improve conversation, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, travel Korean, Korean culture, or Korean for school and personal interest. Each lesson is adjusted to the student’s goals, so the class can be more structured, more conversational, or a mix of both.
