About Madoka

Hello! I'm a very friendly Japanese teacher with over 20 years of experience, having taught around 1,500–2,000 students ranging in age from 5 to their 80s. I've taught at universities(UQ, Grifith), companies such as Google and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and schools, so I'm comfortable teaching learners of all backgrounds and goals.

I hold a Master's in Applied Linguistics (specializing in Japanese) and a Master's in Education (TESOL), which gives me a strong academic foundation alongside my teaching experience.

I can teach anything from complete beginner level to Master's-level study or business Japanese. My strength is being able to clearly see each student's strengths and weaknesses, so I can give specific, practical advice on what to focus on next. I also adjust the pace of every lesson to match the individual, since everyone learns differently.

I'm friendly, patient, and reliable, and I genuinely love watching my students improve — that's what I enjoy most about teaching. I look forward to meeting you in class!

About the lesson

Free 45-minute trial lesson
A relaxed, no-pressure session where we get to know each other, check your current level, and talk about what you'd like to achieve. If you're not a complete beginner, we'll simply have a gentle conversation to see where you're at — there's no test-like pressure at all. Please note this is an introductory session rather than a full lesson with detailed teaching content.

50-minute lesson – $55

Every lesson is built around you. Whether you want to focus on natural conversation, grammar and vocabulary, JLPT preparation, homework help, travel Japanese, or a more structured, step-by-step approach, we'll figure out together what works best — and adjust as we go. If something feels difficult, we'll slow down and go over it in a different way until it clicks; there's never any rush.

All ages and levels are welcome, including complete beginners and learners who've struggled with Japanese before. I'll always adjust the content and pace to match your ability, your goals, and how you're feeling on the day.
