About Madeleine
I am currently studying film production at Aberystwyth University but in my spare time enjoy engaging with maths challenges and find teaching to be extremely rewarding. Over recent years I have competed in numerous UKMT Maths Challenges and achieved A's in Maths and Physics at A level. Coming from a family of architects I often assist with the trigonometry and geometry aspects of building design. Aside from Maths, for years I volunteered as a young leader at a Guides unit as well as assisting teaching children's cookery classes and have directed a theatre production involving 50 children.

I teach pupils through primary level, 11+ and GCSE level. Initially I like to get to know the pupils and determine which areas they struggle with the most but equally which areas they enjoy as I believe it is important to continue to boost their confidence even when tackling challenging questions. Once these areas have been established I discuss the specifics and try to find the key point that they find difficult and spend time covering this, gradually advancing to more and more complex questions. As a hard-worker by nature I spend time outside of the sessions finding appropriate questions and solutions. I believe that children learn in a supportive environment so I always take the time to get to know them to allow them to feel comfortable in the sessions.
