About Scott

I lived in Japan for 15 years and worked in different industries. I taught English at the Hiroshima Institute of Technology. When I tutor, I reflect on my own experience learning Japanese and Mandarin. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but after college, I've always lived outside of the U.S.

About the lesson

My method of teaching you all depends on where you are and what you want. I don't think it's realistic otherwise. But I do think it's important to make sure your basics are good and work on the problems. I do not emphasize speed, as speed comes naturally. I do not appreciate the mindset that everything is okay as long as you can communicate. :)

Scott's response
One of Flavia's strengths is that she sees Japanese as a language very different from English/Spanish and does not try to make it fit into an English/Spanish mold.
