About Zachary
I'm a (mostly) self-taught Software Developer from the USA, living and working in Japan. I work for a small tech company, using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and React Native at my job every day.
It took me 2 years to go from being an English teacher and knowing nothing about Software to getting my first job in the tech industry, but most people can do it faster! I would say 1 year is a good goal to set.
In addition to my full-time job, I doing freelancing. I do direct freelancing for local businesses and I've also started to get jobs on Upwork, mostly for Shopify store development.
My coding background:
2021 - Started studying on freeCodeCamp, finished their ResponsiveWeb Design Course (HTML & CSS), and JavaScript course.
2022 - Joined a self-paced online bootcamp called Freemote (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React and Shopify)
2022 - Did one semester of CS online from a college in the USA (Programming Fundamentals 1 in C++)
June 2023 - Quit English teaching job to study full-time / do freelancing
August 2023- Got the job offer for my first tech job
