About the lesson

I am a fully qualified teacher with a joint honours degree in mathematics and computing form Kings College London. I taught in schools for 13 years and have been tutoring one-to one face-to face and online for 5 years.
I have tutored many pupils who needed to get C at GCSE to go on with their studies, as well as helping others achieve their A and A* grades and had two student get level 9 in the new GCSE. I have helped A level students with the step up to higher studies and given them the confidence to continue, taking some all the way through the course. I have helped students who left school several years ago to pass their GCSE and get grade C in order to go on to college or take A level of OU degree for their own personal development. I can help with basic numeracy for nurses exams, college or interview tests and QTS for those wishing to train as teachers.
I am generally considered to be very patient and understanding and I enjoy helping people learn. I can explain things clearly and in different ways and do not mind repeating things. I encourage and build confidence with appropriate praise and recognition of progress made regardless of whether the “right answer” is necessarily achieved. I always try and explain “why” methods work and introduce specific vocabulary with explanations, mnemonics, ‘hints’ or even puns for remembering the terms and the spellings.
