About Emma
I have always wanted to be a teacher and love bringing my passion and enthusiasm to the profession. I am bubbly, compassionate, patient and kind. These traits I believe are crucial for a teacher to have. I create wonderful relationships with my students, which I see as so important for building trust between the teacher and learner. I want to instill confidence in my students and create a learning experience where they feel successful as learners but also know that it’s okay to make mistakes!

Kia Ora my name is Emma Checketts and I have taught in junior classrooms for the past 5 and a half years. I am now keen to help your child with their literacy at home and enable them to succeed in the classroom. I graduated with a Master of Teaching and Learning from the University of Otago in 2017. I believe no two children learn in the same way or at the same speed, and it is important for their individual learning needs to be met - which can be hard in a classroom environment - therefore I will plan a personalized learning session for your child that targets their gaps and ensures that they get the most out of our sessions. Each tutoring session will be 60 min - this is to keep the interest and focus of the child.
