About Jake
By the age of 20, I have had lots of professional performing experiences, and have had placements in the UK's most elite youth orchestras (such as NYOGB, NCOGB, UYO & NYOI), under some of the worlds greatest conductors, which has given me the opportunity to perform in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Vienna and Slovakia. I have also been 3rd prize winner of the Azumi European Flute competition, 2nd prize in the Feis Coil Concerto Award held in Dublin and have won Northern Ireland's Young Musician of the Year!
Other professional performances include guest soloist with the RAF Central Band at the Waterfront Hall, star soloist at the Bellapais Music Festival in North Cyprus and many more concerts across Ireland and the United Kingdom

In my lessons, my sole focus is to work on and develop what the student wants to learn or focus on, not what I want. The key for strong development is to enjoy what you're working on, so as a tutor, I always value what they hope to get out of lessons and what they would prefer to work on. Although working towards grading exams is important, it's not at all the climax of learning music. Only through legitimate enjoyment of music making, will you develop as a well-rounded musician, and that's what I strive to achieve for each student.
I have given easy-going lessons to a small handful of people online, and during my time in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, I develop the skill of working with young musicians, to make them feel happy and comfortable when making music!
