About Oliver
Hi, I’m Oliver — a friendly, approachable science tutor who loves helping students reach that “lightbulb moment” when a difficult idea finally makes sense.
I tutor GCSE and A-level Biology and Chemistry, as well as GAMSAT science preparation. I achieved an A* in A-level Biology and an A in Chemistry, then completed a Biomedical Sciences degree with Professional Placement Year at Newcastle University. I am now studying Graduate Entry Medicine at the University of Liverpool, so I bring both strong academic foundations and a clear understanding of how science connects to real clinical practice.
My background goes beyond exam content. I have experience in biomedical research, laboratory-based science, clinical research-related work, medical affairs, scientific communication, and evidence appraisal. I have also worked as a peer mentor and spent a full academic year as a laboratory assistant in a school science department. These roles strengthened my ability to explain complex material clearly, adapt to different learners, and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
Outside tutoring and medicine, I enjoy running, tennis, cooking and reading—so there is always room for a friendly chat alongside serious academic progress.

I offer personalised Biology tuition for GCSE, IGCSE and A-level students. Sessions are tailored to your exam board, current confidence and target grade, with clear explanations, active recall and exam-question practice.
Each lesson follows a clear structure: we identify the area causing difficulty, build understanding using simple explanations and diagrams, then apply knowledge through exam-style questions and targeted feedback. This helps students move beyond memorising content and develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions independently.
Whether the goal is mastering a difficult topic, improving exam technique, learning how to approach extended-response questions or rebuilding confidence from the ground up, tuition is adapted to your individual priorities. Lessons are focused, encouraging and practical, with clear goals and useful revision strategies to use between sessions.
My aim is not only to improve grades, but to help students become confident, independent learners with a stronger understanding of Biology. A clear lesson structure, active practice and feedback help students see what they can already do and what to work on next.

I teach most specifications, tailoring sessions to your exam board, current level and target grade. Lessons are available online or in person across Liverpool; London tuition may be possible by arrangement. The free introductory session is a 20–30 minute consultation to discuss goals, identify priorities and explain how sessions would be structured.
