About Owen
Thank you for viewing my profile. I am a full-time teacher of iGCSE and A-Level Biology in an independent school. I have significant postgraduate experience within clinical science and academic research, having completed two postgraduate master's degrees, specialising in molecular biology (immunology and biochemistry). Prior to teaching biology, I completed my PhD studies in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge. During these studies I have developed excellent subject knowledge and have experience of undergraduate teaching (Cambridge University small group supervisions), and demonstrating laboratory practical skills. Additionally, I work with Sixth Form pupils wishing to undertake Science, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry at competitive universities including Oxbridge. I truly love biology and it is by far my biggest passion (and the only subject I offer tuition for!), so I try incredibly hard to pass this enthusiasm on to my tutees.

Thank you for viewing my profile. I am a PGCE qualified teacher with years of experience specialising exclusively in GCSE and IB Biology (SL/HL) at a prestigious UK independent school. Prior to teaching, I completed my PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, where I taught undergraduate students (Cambridge University utilises small group supervision sessions), and demonstrating laboratory practical skills. Before this I worked as a scientist in an internationally renowned hospital in organ transplant immunology. I have a fun, engaging and adaptive teaching style, catering to the individual needs of each pupil. I like to implement a range of teaching and recall techniques frequently employed in the independent sector to enable pupils to consistently utilise key terminology and problem solve. Of course, exam preparation is vitally important and we will cover past paper questions and other data analysis questions together in order to refine technique. I work daily with GCSE and Sixth Form pupils wishing to undertake Science, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry at competitive universities including Oxbridge. As such, I am able to provide additional assistance with this if needed. Tuition online is undertaken using an online whiteboard with realtime collaboration. This enables me to share text, diagrams and past paper questions to keep each tutoring session fresh and enjoyable - but also a record of the pupils works after our session.
