About Ana Filipa
I’m Filipa, an experienced Art and Design teacher with over 15 years working in secondary education. I have taught Art, Photography and Graphic Communication across GCSE and A-Level and have a strong track record of helping students achieve excellent results.
I have a background in Art and Design and Graphic Design, as well as a Master’s in Education in Arts. I currently work in secondary education in a teaching and leadership role, while continuing to teach Art and Photography.
I’m passionate about helping young people develop their own creative ideas and become more confident and independent in their work. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel stuck, overwhelmed by their coursework, or unsure about how to take their work to the next level.

My tutoring is tailored to the individual student, their course, current level and areas for development. I aim to help students understand how to improve their own work rather than simply telling them what to produce.
Sessions can include reviewing coursework and sketchbooks, identifying gaps and next steps, developing ideas, experimenting with materials and techniques, artist research and analysis, photography, digital editing, portfolio organisation and preparation for GCSE or A-Level assessments and exams.
I have 15+ years’ experience teaching secondary Art & Design, including Art, Photography and Graphic Communication, and have extensive experience supporting students through GCSE and A-Level courses. I am familiar with AQA, Eduqas and Edexcel specifications and assessment requirements.
A typical session is around 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged where practical work or portfolio development would benefit from additional time. For in-person sessions, students can also have access to a range of art materials for practical work.
My tuition is primarily for GCSE and A-Level students, whether they are aiming to improve their grade, need support organising and developing coursework, are preparing for an assessment, or simply want more individual guidance and confidence with their work.
